Frequently Asked Questions

Indian Head Massage in Atherstone, Warwickshire

What is Indian Head Massage?

Indian Head Massage (Champissage) is a seated treatment focusing on the upper back, shoulders, neck, scalp and face. It relieves tension, eases headaches and promotes relaxation.

What treatment durations are available?

Our sessions start from 12 minutes and go up to 95 minutes, so you can choose a quick boost or a deeply relaxing experience.

What is the difference between a standard massage and Indian Head Massage (Champi)?

Unlike a full-body massage, Indian Head Massage (or Champi) focuses specifically on the head, neck, and shoulders where tension often accumulates. At ScalpEase, we use traditional Ayurvedic techniques performed while you are seated and over light clothing, making it a convenient mental reset for busy schedules.

Do I need to wash my hair before or after the treatment?

We recommend arriving with clean hair for the best experience. If you choose an oil-based treatment to nourish your scalp, it’s best to leave the oil in for a few hours afterward to allow the nutrients to fully absorb before washing.

Can Indian Head Massage help with migraines and tension headaches?

Yes. By targeting acupressure points on the scalp and releasing tightness in the neck and upper back, Champi can help reduce the frequency and intensity of tension-related headaches. It improves circulation and helps calm the nervous system.

Is this treatment suitable for people with hair loss or thinning hair?

Absolutely. Scalp massage stimulates blood flow and oxygen delivery to the hair follicles, helping to support a healthier scalp environment. It’s a gentle, non-invasive way to care for scalp and hair wellbeing.

Where is ScalpEase located and do I need to book in advance?

We are located at 10 Market Street, Atherstone (CV9 1ET). While walk-ins are welcome if availability allows, we strongly recommend booking online to secure your preferred time — especially for longer treatments.

How much does it cost?

Prices start at £10 for express treatments and go up to £90 for our most indulgent packages. See the Services page for details.

How do I book?

Book online via the booking page or in studio. You’ll receive confirmation and reminders by email.

What should I do after my massage?

Drink water, allow your body to rest, and keep warm. This helps your body fully benefit from the treatment.

Do you sell gift vouchers?

Yes! Vouchers are available via the contact page or in person. They make a perfect gift.

What kind of clothes should I wear for my massage?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that allows easy access to your neck and shoulders, such as a vest top or a loose T-shirt.
